Women's Volleyball Concludes NEAC Play With 3-0 Win

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's volleyball team defeated the College of Saint Elizabeth in straight sets on Sunday. The Express exit play this weekend with a 17-8 overall record after finishing its North Eastern Athletic Conference slate of matches with an 11-1 league record.

Both Wells and the SUNY Polytechnic Institute posted an 11-1 record in conference play, but the Wildcats earned the outright NEAC Regular Season Championship and the right to host by defeating the Express by a 3-1 margin earlier in the year. Additional information about the NEAC postseason, including final seedings, tournament qualifiers and start times, will be announced later in the week.

Wells was able to sweep Saint Elizabeth in straight sets via scores of 25-11, 25-22 and 25-5. The Express allowed only five points to the Eagles in the third set, a team-record low against a NEAC opponent.

Senior Vashti Nettles (Long Beach, Calif.) led Wells with nine kills. Sophomore Eliza Schwab (Hartland, N.Y.) assisted 15 of her team's 27 kills while also leading the team with 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Sophomore Olyvia Brazier (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and classmate Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo (Hilo, Hawaii) both posted eight digs defensively.

Wells will play three straight non-conferences matches leading up to the conference postseason, first taking on Ithaca College this Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Ben Light Gymnasium.
