Leite Ah-Yo Nets NEAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Sophomore Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo (Hilo, Hawaii) of the Wells College women's volleyball team picked up North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Express to a 3-0 record this past weekend, the conference office announced Monday.

Wells wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference postseason, finishing with an 11-1 mark in league play and earning a first-round bye. The Express eclipsed the previous team record for conference victories in a season, set last year with 10 wins in 12 total matches.

Across 10 sets of action this past weekend, Leite-Ah Yo and the Express racked up three-straight victories against conference opponents. She tallied a team-leading 33 digs (3.30/set) and also chipped in with 18 kills, ranking third on the team during that span.

Against Bryn Athyn on Saturday, she posted 10 digs before chipping in with a double-double against Penn St.-Abington in the day's final match. Her 15 digs and 10 kills against the Nittany Lions accounted for her fourth double-double of the season. She rounded out the weekend with eight digs against St. Elizabeth on Sunday.

Across her two-year career, Leite-Ah Yo has registered 561 digs to rank fourth all-time in program history. The reigning NEAC Rookie of the Year also has 424 kills to her credit, also ranking fourth in the team's four-season existence.

Wells will play three straight non-conferences matches leading up to the conference postseason, first taking on Ithaca College this Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ben Light Gymnasium.
