Women's Volleyball Wins On Senior Night

The Wells College women's volleyball team closed the North Eastern Athletic Conference portion of the regular season with a 3-0 win over visiting Cazenovia College on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Set scores were 25-10, 25-15, 25-19.

Prior to the match, Wells honored four seniors that have contributed to the program over the last four years that saw the team improve from a five-win season in 2013 to winning records and qualification for the NEAC playoffs each of the subsequent campaigns.

The senior quartet consisted of four-year varsity players Meredith Kadjeski, Haylee Ouellette, Nadine Pershyn, and Stephanie Parker who played two seasons with the team before supporting the team in practices and as a manager when injury limited her competitive career.

The Express cruised to a 25-10 win in the opening set with a staggering .565 hitting percentage on 14 kills and one error in 23 swings.

In the second set, program history was made as senior Meredith Kadjeski recorded her fifth kill of the match to reach the 1,000 kills milestone over her career. She is the program's all-time leader in almost every career and single-season record book listing.

The Express closed out the match with a 25-19 score in the third set.

A total of 14 Wells players saw action in the match, with Kadjeski leading the team with eight kills and Olyvia Brazier adding seven. Amanda Springer and Haylee Ouellette had five kills each.  Renee Bartosz served four aces, and Eliza Schwab had 19 assists. Nadine Pershyn led the Express with seven digs.

Wells closes its regular season with matches this weekend at Misericordia University against Kean and Misericordia. The following week, Wells will participate in the NEAC playoffs with date, opponent, and match times to be determined.
