Women's Volleyball Falls To SUNY Poly in NEAC Semis

The Wells College women's volleyball team saw its run in the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs come to end in the semifinal round when the tournament host and top seed SUNY Polytechnic Institute defeated fifth-seeded Wells College in four sets on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Utica, N.Y.

The host Wildcats opened by winning the first two sets by 25-18 scores. Wells came back to win the third set 25-20, but SUNY Poly closed out the victory with a 26-24 win in the fourth set. Wells hit .180 as a team for the match and SUNY Poly hit .277.

Wells blasted away in the third set with a .355 hitting percentage on 12 kills against just one error.

The Express served up 10 aces in the match, including six from Eliza Schwab. She finished the season with 42 aces, which ranked second on the team.

Statistical leaders for Wells included Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo with 13 kills and Olyvia Brazier with 10. Leite-Ah Yo had 13 digs and Schwab had 10, along with 25 assists.

Wells finished its season with a 19-11 overall record, among the best single-season marks in program history, and made modern program history with a NEAC quarterfinal win on Friday night, the first postseason victory in the NCAA era.
