NEAC Honors For Women's Volleyball Duo

Two members of the Wells College women's volleyball team earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 17. Freshman Rachel Anderson was the Women's Volleyball Player of the Week and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo was the Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Wells won all four of its matches last week, including its first two conference matches of the 2017 season, and has won five straight overall. Wells is 8-4 on the season.

Anderson totaled 48 kills with a .314 hitting percentage. She had six digs, one solo block and nine block assists. The freshman middle hitter from St. Louis, Mo. came through in the decisive fifth set of a conference match against Keuka. Anderson had six kills and a solo block as Wells took the fifth set by a 17-15 score.

Leite-Ah Yo was the defensive player of the week. She totaled 77 digs in four matches and averaged 5.13 digs per set. She excelled in the conference matches with 23 digs against Keuka and 24 at SUNY Poly. The senior from Hilo, Hawaii added 11 kills, 14 assists and nine service aces on the week, and ranks third in the NEAC with 178 digs on the year.

Wells will be back in action at home, Saturday, Sept. 23 with a noon match against Morrisville State College and a 4 p.m. match against Hamilton College.
