Wells Serves Up Victory Over Utica

The Wells College women's volleyball team competed at the University of Rochester Invitational and had one win and two losses on the weekend. Wells defeated Utica 3-0 on Saturday morning and lost 3-2 to St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon. Friday night, Nazareth defeated Wells 3-0.

Jackie Allen and Rachel Anderson were named to the All-Tournament Team at the event.

The Express is 2-5 on the season. Wells begins conference play Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Keuka College with a 7 p.m. match.

NAZARETH 3, WELLS 0

Set scores were 25-15, 29-27, 25-18. Rachel Anderson led Wells with 10 kills. The Express hit .155 over the match with 27 kills and 12 errors. Lorissa Parks had 13 assists. Jazzmyne Williams had seven digs and Gabby Rivera and Jackie Allen had five digs each. Lakshmi Martin had one solo block and one block assist. Maritza Scharoun had one solo block and two block assists.

WELLS 3, UTICA 0

In Saturday morning's match, Wells won in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-15. Wells served 17 aces in the match, with five from Amanda Springer, four from Jazzmyne Williams, three from Lorissa Parks and Jackie Allen, and two by Jordan Stoops.

The Express had 37 kills against just 15 errors and hit .237 in the match. Jackie Allen led Wells with 10 kills and Lakshmi Martin had nine. Lorissa Parks had 20 assists and Jordan Stoops added 13. Jackie Allen had 13 digs.

ST. JOHN FISHER 3, WELLS 2

Wells won the first two sets but Fisher rallied to take the last three. Set scores were 17-25, 13-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-8. Three Wells players had over 20 digs in the match. Jackie Allen had 29, Nanako Otsuka had 25, and Jazzmyne Williams had 22. Jazzmyne Williams had 18 kills and hit .341 for the match. Jackie Allen added 12 kills and Rachel Anderson had 8. Lorissa Parks had 20 assists and Jordan Stoops had 15. Parks and Allen each served two aces. Anderson had one solo block and three block assists. Maritza Scharoun had four block assists.
