Women's Volleyball Spikes Cobleskill

The Wells College women's volleyball team played its first home match of the season and rolled to a straight-sets win over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Wells won the North Eastern Athletic Conference match by set scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-20.

Wells is 8-8 overall and 4-1 in the NEAC. Cobleskill is 1-12 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Express had 16 kills in each of the three sets and hit .348 for the match.

Wells used a six-point run to build a 9-3 lead in the opening set and later went on a seven-point run to seize control with an 18-7 lead on the way to a 25-11 win.

The Express had six points in a row in the early part of the second set that included three service aces from Jackie Allen.

The third set was tied 16-16 before Wells closed with a 9-4 run to wrap up the match.

Jazzmyne Williams led the Express with 13 kills and Jackie Allen had 11. Amanda Springer added eight kills.

Wells setters Jordan Stoops (24) and Lorissa Parks (20) each went over 20 assists in the match.

Allen led Wells with 11 digs. Springer had two solo blocks and two block assists.

Allen served three aces and Parks had two aces.

Wells will host a non-conference match Wednesday, Oct. 3 against Elmira College.
