Women's Volleyball Opens Hawaii Trip With Two Matches

The Wells College women's volleyball team opened its weekend of action at the Pacific University Invitational at Kailua, Hawaii with a pair of losses on Saturday, Sept. 7. Wells fell in five sets against Simpson College and lost in three sets against Pacific University.

The same three teams will contest matches on Sunday, Sept. 8. Wells faces Pacific to start the day's session and then closes the weekend with another match against Simpson.

Simpson 3, Wells 2

Simpson rallied to win the match by taking the final two sets. Set scores were 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 25-13, 15-7.

Jackie Allen had 16 kills and Jazzmyne Williams added 11 kills for the Express. Jordan Stoops had 35 assists. Gabby Rivera led Wells with 12 digs. The Express served 12 aces in the match with three each from Lorissa Parks, Jackie Allen, and Jordan Stoops. Maritza Scharoun had two solo blocks and two block assists.

Pacific 3, Wells 0

Pacific won in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-19. Wells had 13 kills and 13 hitting errors in the match. Jordan Stoops served three aces and had eight assists and seven digs. Gabby Rivera had seven digs and one service ace. Jazzmyne Williams had four kills and four block assists.
