Women's Volleyball Opens Season at Rochester Invitational

The Wells College women's volleyball team opened their season on the road this Saturday at the University of Rochester invitational. The Express fell 3-1 (16-25, 11-25, 28-26, 13-25) against SUNY Oneonta in the first match and defeated Medaille (25-27, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21).

The Express returned 9 student-athletes while bringing in 3 exciting additions. They looked to make a splash in their final season in the United East conference. 

Wells dropped the first two sets and rallied to capture the 3rd. Ultimately they were defeated in the 4th set. Against SUNY Oneonta, transfer Miah Williamson leads the Express with 12 kills in her Wells College debut. First-year student Brianah Dawson tallied 21 assists in her debut while returner Roosa Armstead-Lehti secured 24 digs. Caroline Barr and Lexi Carfi threw in 6 kills apiece. 

Up next for the Express was the Medaille Mavericks. 

The Express fell in extra points to the Mavericks in the 1st set. They would then rally to defeat Medaille in 3 straight sets thanks to some key performances. Miah Williamson would lead the Express in kills by adding another 12 while Morgan Adams tallied 11 of her own. Brianah Dawson assisted 25 times for Wells too. 

Also, congratulations to Miah Willaimson for being named to the All-Tournament team!

Women's Volleyball will be back in action Wednesday with their home opener against Keystone College at 7 PM.
