SHUMSKI AND WILKINSON EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AT NEAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Utica, NY – The Wells College men's cross country team tallied a team total of 128 points placing 5th at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship held on Saturday afternoon at SUNY IT. The women's cross country team placed 10th with a total of 201 points.

SUNY Cobleskill took home first place in both the men's and women's races, with the men tallying 20 points as a team and winning the championship for the second year in a row.  SUNYIT, the University of Dallas (98), Cazenovia (107) and Wells (128) rounded out the top five team finishers for the men's race.  The Cobleskill women's team, who were last year's runner up, won with a team total of 56.  The University of Dallas, last year's champion, finished second with 85 points, with Morrisville (115), Penn State Harrisburg (131) and the College of St. Elizabeth (134) rounding out the top five women's finishers.  Both Cobleskill teams are coached by Mitch Tomaszkiewicz, who was selected by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the Year for both the men and women.

The Wells men's team was led by Brayden Shumski (Everett, WA) who finished 14th out of a field of 65 runners with a time of 30:55.8 earning him a spot on the NEAC All-Conference Second Team. Sam Share (DeWitt), Brandon Johnston (Charlton), and Evando Nascimento (Queens) finished 27th, 28th, and 29th respectively. Share crossed the finish line with a time of 32:45.5, Johnston with a time of 32:50.6, and Nascimento with a time of 32:50.9. Rounding out the men's team was Van Bucsko (Shoreview, MN) in 46th place with a time of 35:33.2, Brian Corcoran (Glen Spey) in 54th place with a time of 37:46.5, and Tim Lambert (Syracuse) in 64th place with a time of 42:56.9. 

The women's team was led by senior Kayleen Wilkinson (Auburn). Running in her last meet of her career Wilkinson crossed the finish line in 12th place out of a field 66 runners with a time of 23:44.4 earning her a spot on the NEAC All-Conference Second Team. The rest of the team put together a solid finish at the championship. Sarah Brenner (Brentwood, NH) finished 40th with a time of 27:46.2. Sarah Deschenes (Keene, NH) finished 51st with a time of 30:00.4, Brittany Dennee (Snyder) finished 57th with a time of 31:10.3 and Beth Cereo (Port Biron) rounded out the team with a 63rd place finish with a time of 32:32.2.
