Middlebrook Claims NEAC XC Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) claimed the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week award for her performance across the past week, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon. Competing in the 2012 Harry F. Anderson Invitational this past Saturday, Middlebrook and the Express posted a seventh place finish amongst the 10 team field.

Middlebrook's 5K time of 19:08 at the Invitational eclipsed her season-high mark of 20:04.2, set at the SUNY Oswego Invitational held on Sept. 8. Her previous career-high mark of 19:28.95 came on Oct. 29, 2011 as she placed first overall at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship with a 6:16.3 mile pace.

In addition, Middlebrook has led the Express as an individual runner in all of the squad's 13 races she has participated in since joining the team as a freshman in 2011. She is also the reigning NEAC Runner of the Year and NEAC Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Julie Bailey, in her third season with the squad, is the conference's reigning Coach of the Year.
