Theriault Leads Squad At Cross Country Only Championships

GENEVA, N.Y. – Sophomore Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) crossed the finish line in eighth place amongst the field of 132 student-athletes as the Wells College women's cross country team posted an eighth-place finish at the Cross Country Only Championships on Saturday at Seneca Lake State Park.

Last season, Theriault also placed eighth at the same event but improved her time by 13 seconds to finish in 20:18.6. She narrowly missed overtaking fellow North Eastern Athletic Conference runner Shelby McIntyre of Cazenovia for seventh place by just over two seconds.

Senior Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) completed the 5K course with a time of 22:20.3 to finish 56th while senior Anastasia Benson (Rockford, Ill.) placed 67th with a time of 23:06.7. Senior Lindsey Guzewicz (Auburn, N.Y.) trailed with a time of 23:59.9 while freshman Audrey Woolever (Owego, N.Y.) finished 103rd with a time of 24:55.0.

Senior Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) turned in a time of 25:16.2 while freshman Amanda Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y.) followed in 117th place (26:40.8). Senior Paige Fralick (Mexico, N.Y.) rounded out the field of Express entrants with a time of 29:16.8.

The Express return to action Saturday, Nov. 1 as they participate in the NEAC Championship, hosted by Gallaudet University. More information about the championship meet will be posted on the Wells College Athletics website later in the week.
