Cross Country To Compete At NEAC Championships

AURORA, N.Y. – For the seventh time in the history of each program, the Wells College men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Kenilworth Park in Washington, D.C. The Wells women will compete against 14 other conference programs on the 6K course at 10 a.m. while the men's team will face-off against 12 other teams on the 8K course at 11 a.m.

The top five finishers for each team will count towards their team's total score, with the best overall team score from each race then taking home the championship. The first-place finisher of each race will be named the conference's Runner of the Year, while the top 21 runners from each race will be named to the NEAC All-Conference teams.

Last season, the Wells College women's team posted a fourth place finish among the 11 competing programs on the campus of the SUNY Institute of Technology. The men's squad posted a 10th place finish after back-to-back fifth place finishes in 2011 and 2012.

In 2013, then-freshman Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) secured First Team All-Conference honors with a fifth-place finish (21:01) while junior Paul Hernon (New Hartford, N.Y.) earned Third Team All-NEAC honors after finishing 20th with a time of 30:46.
