Fastiggi Finishes Third At NEAC Cross Country Championships

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Amanda Fastiggi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's cross country team finished third as an individual at Saturday's North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships. As a team, the Express posted an eighth place finish out of 12 programs with 171 total points.

Fastiggi posted a time of 24:52 on the 6K course, trailing the race leader by only 17 seconds. By finishing third, Fastiggi picked up NEAC First Team All-Conference for her efforts. She is the first freshman since teammate Deaven Theriault (Ludlow, Mass.) to earn First Team honors. Out of the race's first year participants, Fastiggi was second only to SUNY Cobleskill's Quinn Porter.

Theriault was the second runner from Wells to cross the finish line, posting a time of 29:00 to place 29th overall. Shiori Hirayama (Hiroshima, Japan) was third for the Express with a time of 29:34, netting a 36th place finish. Junior Bailey Brown (Marcy, N.Y.) was the fourth finisher from Wells (30:45) while sophomore Amanda Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y.) rounded out the Express qualifiers with a time of 34:06.

Sophomore Audrey Woolever (Owego, N.Y.) finished in 66th place (34:15) while freshman Rosalety Galea (Brooklyn, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in 35:23. Freshman Elena Bushy (Wilmington, N.Y.) rounded out the participants from Wells, completing the course in 36:53.

Wells returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 14 as they will participate at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals at Letchworth State Park in Mount Morris, N.Y.
