Women's cross country picked eighth in NEAC preseason poll

The Wells College women's cross country team was picked eighth in the North Eastern Athletic Conference's 2016 preseason coaches' poll, matching their team finishing place at last season's NEAC championship meet.

Sophomore Amanda Fastiggi returns for her second season with the Wells Express in 2016. She was the top-finishing runner on the Wells team in 2015 in all eight of the team's races. This included a third-place individual finish at the NEAC Championships which earned Fastiggi first-team all-NEAC recognition. Other leading returning point-winners for Wells include seniors Deaven Theriault and Bailey Brown.

Under head coach Dr. Jack Daniels, Wells begins its season Sept. 3 at the Le Moyne College Short Course Invitational in Syracuse and continues its season Sept. 10 at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua. The NEAC Championships will be held Oct. 29 at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa.

The preseason rankings were conducted by the NEAC women's cross country coaches, with each coach ranking all teams but their own using a staggered points system (11 points for a first-place vote, 10 points for second, etc.).  No self-voting was allowed. | Full story at NEAC website
