Fastiggi, Frey Earn All-Conference At NEAC Meet

The Wells College women's cross country team placed sixth among 12 teams at the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships in Lancaster, Pa. Senior Amanda Fastiggi and freshman Abigail Frey earned All-NEAC honors by virtue of their individual finishes.

The sixth-place team standing matched the best finish at the NEAC meet for Wells since 2013. The race was contested over an on-campus six-kilometer course in cold, wet, windy conditions. A total of 82 runners finished the race and 10 teams had scoring lineups.

Fastiggi ran to a ninth-place finish with a time of 26 minutes, 34 seconds. She earned All-NEAC Second Team by placing ninth. It's her third-career all-conference finish in four years. She was a first-team finisher in the 2015 and 2016 championship meets.

Frey came in with a 21st-place finish in 27:55. It was the first NEAC championship meet for the Wells freshman and her first-career all-conference honor. She earned the final place on the NEAC Third Team, edging the 22nd-place finisher by eight seconds.

Yuna Itakura just missed out on an all-conference finish (top 21) with a 28th-place finish in 28:20. Kaylen Furr was 41st overall with a time of 29:48 and Miranda Mingen rounded out the scoring lineup for the Express with a 47th-place finish in 30:04.

The Wells lineup was completed by Joy Lionel (36:35) and Aala Al-Hashimi (37:37).
