GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Danielle Bautista (Moorpark, Calif.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts with the Wells College women's tennis program. Bautista and the Express posted a 1-1 record against Utica and Fredonia State on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Cumulatively, Bautista posted a 4-0 record in doubles and singles play.

Playing at No. 6 singles for Wells, Bautista posted back-to-back victories after edging her Utica counterpart 6-1, 6-0 on Wednesday before setting down her opponent from Fredonia State 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday. After partnering with junior Kevisha Hunt (Germantown, Md.), the tandem defeated Utica's No. 3 doubles duo 8-1 before battling Fredonia State's twosome to a 9-7 decision.

Bautista is the fifth student-athlete from Wells to earn the league's weekly award and the first since Ayumi Takeuchi collected Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Apr. 22, 2013. She is the first freshman to earn the award since Kailin Kucewicz '16 won on Sept. 17, 2012.
