Men's Cross Country Takes Sixth At NEAC Championships

The Wells College men's cross country team finished sixth in a field of 13 teams at the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Morrisville State College. Two Wells runners earned all-conference recognition based on their finishes.

Tanner Mingen earned distinction as an All-NEAC Second Team finisher with a 13th-place result. Adam M. Sleezer was 18th overall and named to the All-NEAC Third Team. The top seven places were first-team selections, eighth through 14th were on the second team and 15th-21st made the third team.

Mingen's time of 30 minutes, 37 seconds and Sleezer's time of 30:58 led the way for Wells. Eli Stone ran 33:11 and Tony D'Arpino clocked 33:12 to finish 42nd and 43rd overall. The scoring lineup was completed by Austin Heil with a 51st-place finish in 34:03.

Bradlee Sherman (35:15) and John Tolley (37:59) were the other Wells entrants.

It is the second year in a row that Wells has finished sixth at the conference meet. The sixth-place team standing tied for the second-highest finish in program history. Wells finished fifth in the NEAC on three previous occasions.

Wells finished sixth as a team with 155 points, 22 points behind fifth-place Penn State Berks. SUNY Poly, Penn College, SUNY Cobleskill, and Lancaster Bible College were the top-four teams.
