Freshman Spotlight : Aidan Cort

The Wells College athletics department closes out the 2020 calendar year with a series of first-year freshmen athlete profiles. Today's feature is men's cross country runner Aidan Cort.

Aidan Cort is a freshman on the Wells College men's cross country team. The Clifton Springs, N.Y. political science major is one of two freshmen runners for head coach Ross Cobb.

Aidan and his teammates from Midlakes High School were part of 21 school records in running-related sports. For Aidan, those included a combined eight seasons with three each in cross country and indoor track and a pair in outdoor track.

In his senior year, Aidan recorded a top-10 Section V cross country finish in Class C competition on his way to an All-League selection and a state berth qualification after helping his team to a top-10 sectional finish. As a sectional qualifier in each of his cross country seasons as a Screaming Eagle, Aidan also qualified for sectionals in both indoor and outdoor track over the course of his high school athletics career.

Academically, Aidan was a member of the National Honor Society and was named a high honor roll recipient multiple times. Between numerous extracurricular school activities and clubs, Aidan found time to lead the Midlakes Student Council as president in addition to his four-year term as class president.

What stands out from his first season at Wells was the beauty and scenic surroundings of the Wells campus during practices on the roads alongside the picturesque lakeside community.

Coach Cobb added, "Aidan's commitment and dedication was evident throughout the season and his high school accomplishments speak volumes about his collegiate potential."
