1ST EVER MEN’S SOCCER ALUMNI GAME

1ST EVER MEN’S SOCCER ALUMNI GAME

Aurora, NY - The Wells men's soccer program held its first ever alumni soccer game on May 5th, 2012.  The program, which had its inaugural season in 2006, welcomed back its graduating classes from 2010 and 2011.  Eight of the nine graduating seniors were able to make the trip back to Aurora for the game.   Also joining the Alumni team, were the current seniors from the class of 2012.

The alumni showed their experience by beating the current team on the beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Derek Wheeler (class of 2010) showed that his time at Syracuse Law School has still allowed him to keep his game sharp.  Similarly, Braden Allen (class of 2011) displayed his deft touch and field vision as he played against the team he helped coach in the fall and spring.  Braden also works as an admissions counselor for Wells College.

While the game was a huge hit, the most entertaining part of the event was listening to the alumni team share stories with the current team.  The stories quickly jumped from practices to professors, and memorable wins to life in the real world.
