Dan Kane completed his eighth season as head coach of the men's soccer team at Wells College in the 2016 season.

In addition to his coaching duties, Kane is the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and is be responsible for scheduling, operations, and maintenance of all athletic facilities outside of the pool and fitness center. In addition, he is a department liaison to the Wells College Buildings and Grounds Department.

Following the departure of Director of Athletics Michael Borsz, Kane was tabbed as the College's Acting Athletic Director in January of 2014. During his tenure, Kane saw two teams claim NEAC Championships while coordinating day-to-day operations of the department. He held that role until the appointment of Mike Lindberg as Director of Athletics in September 2014.

Since his first season in 2009, Kane's teams increased their winning percentages in each of his eight seasons (.350, .382, .412, .500, .625, .639, .650, .657). He has guided the team to four playoff appearances.

In 2014, the Express qualified for the postseason after turning in a 7-3 record in North Eastern Athletic Conference play while collecting 11 overall wins (11-6-1). Three players earned NEAC All-Conference honors while a trio of Wyatt Buerkle '16, Tyler Morris '16 and Michael Sciotti '17 earned NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention honors.

Wells returned to the playoffs and set a program record for wins in the 2015 campaign. The team's 13-7-0 overall record established the most wins and highest winning percentage in program history. Wells advanced to the championship game of the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs where they fell 1-0 in overtime agains top-seeded host team Morrisville.

The Express made it three-straight years in the playoffs to cap the 2016 season. Wells had an 11-5-3 overall record, another winning percentage record, and won a NEAC playoff game at Penn State Berks before falling in the quarterfinal.

In 2013, Kane and the Express registered an impressive 4-0-1 start with favorable results against a 2012 NCAA Division III tournament team in Medaille (W 1-0) and a draw against reigning NEAC-champion Morrisville State (2OT 1-1), Wells earned its first-ever NSCAA Division III East Regional Ranking on Sept. 17, 2013. Wells also had a team-record four players earn NEAC All-Conference honors. With only five bookings during the 2013 campaign, Kane's squad was one of only two NCAA Division III men's soccer programs to earn Gold or Silver Placement on the NSCAA's Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award list.

During the 2012 calendar, Kane's program set a program record with eight victories, including five North Eastern Athletic Conference wins. Additionally, his team ranked 10th across all NCAA Division III programs in save percentage (.858) while also leading the NEAC in goals-against average (1.05) and fewest goals allowed (17).

With one of the highest grade-point averages on campus, the men's soccer team at Wells has garnered high academic praise during Kane's tenure. A total of 21 different players have earned NEAC Scholar-Athlete honors after posting a combined grade-point average of 3.4 or higher in both the fall and spring semesters over Kane's eight seasons as head coach.

He previously spent time as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Goucher College in Baltimore, Md. Additionally, Kane also coached the '95 Maryland Olympic Development Program on a trip to Scotland.

Kane earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., Kane was a three-year starter for the men’s soccer team and earned All-Conference honors in 2004. Across his four year career, Kane scored 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points in 68 career contests for the Cardinals.

Kane also holds a Master’s degree in education with a specialization in athletic leadership and program administration from Goucher College and holds his USSF C License. He resides in Skaneateles, N.Y. with his wife Shannon and two children.
