EXPRESS SPLITS WITH SUNYIT

Aurora, NY – The Wells women's swimming team won the first four events of the 22 event meet as they cruised to a 66-28 victory over the visiting SUNY IT Wildcats on Friday evening at Wells. The Express men's team was less fortunate as SUNY IT clinched the meet in the final event, defeating the Express in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay for the 52-43 victory. 

Idolyn Villiotti (Amherst, NH) and Jacqueline Ross (Rensselaer) both led the Express, winning two events each. Villiotti took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 29:16 and first in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:12.66. Ross finished first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:16.96 and first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:13.22. 

The men's meet came down to the final event of the night as Wells entered trailing the Wildcats by only two points, 45-43. The Wildcats would pull away in the third leg of the 200 Free Relay taking first with a time of 1:41.37 defeating Wells by two seconds and sealing the victory. 

On the men's side the Express were led by 200 Yard Medley Relay team swam by Michael Scharvella (Craryville), Jeffrey Dick (Albion), Drew Teter (Campbell), and Daniel Schilling (Centerport).  The team finished first with a time of 1:49.33 besting the Wildcats by over two seconds. Individually Anthony Monachino (Macedon) had a first place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 13:39.35. While Teter took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of :24.15. 

The Express will next take on SUNY Brockport on Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 pm at Wells.
