The Wells College men's soccer team returned to the pitch after more than a week off from competition. Despite the layoff, the Expree played host Keuka College even in the second half, but the Wolves outscored the Express in the first half and that proved to be the difference on Wednesday, Sept. 15.
Senior Justin Butler scored on a free kick five yards inside the midfield line after hitting the ball over the Keuka goalkeeper and into the top of the goal.
Defensively, Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith made eight saves for the Express.
Wells next opens United East play with a pair of weekend home games beginning with Gallaudet University on Saturday, Sept. 18 and followed by a contest with St. Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 19.
