'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Nov. 18, ten years ago in 2010.

Aurora, N.Y. ─ Freshman Gabby Spencer shattered the 20-year old Wells 50 Freestyle record by .25 seconds, touching the wall with a time of 26.37. Despite the record, the Wells women's swimming team fell in close meet to the Fighting Tigers, 50-40 in Aurora.

Spencer not only broke a 20-year old record in the 50 freestyle, but also took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.27 and then led the Express to a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

Spencer teamed with Idolyn Villiotti, Gwen Lillie and Britta Kilbourn to edge out Cobleskill by .04 seconds with a time of 4:23.02 in what was one of the most thrilling events of the evening.
