Field Hockey Falls In Road Game At Elmira

The Wells College field hockey team lost 6-3 at Elmira College on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Chloe Marcus scored twice for Wells and Kelly Mason had a goal and an assist.

Elmira opened the scoring 3:04 into the match, but Wells came back to tie it in the 23rd minute. Kelly Mason fired in a shot from the right side of the circle into the lower right corner. It was an unassisted goal.

Elmira led 2-1 at halftime and added three more goals in the second half to build a 5-1 lead.

Marcus scored her first goal of the game with 8:42 left in the second half on an assist from Mason, and scored again with 5:17 left when Marcus tipped in a Kate Wells shot near the goal line. Elmira capped the scoring with a goal in the final two minutes.

Wells scored multiple goals for the fourth consecutive game. The Express scored more than once just two times in its first nine games.

Allison Solomon made 11 saves for Wells.

The Express is 2-11 on the season and Elmira improved to 2-10. Wells plays again Saturday, Oct. 21 at Wilson College in a NEAC match.
