UTICA HOLDS ON FOR VICTORY OVER EXPRESS

UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica College Pioneers narrowly defeated the Wells College men's swimming team 138-109 on Saturday afternoon in Utica. The Pioneers earned victories in three of the final four events to close out the win.

Matt Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) paced the Express on the afternoon earning three first place finishes. Sleezer took first in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle (1:56.43), Men's 50 Yard Freestyle (23.66), and the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle (52.37). Sleezer also achnored the 400 Yard Freestyle Releay team of Thomas Laier (East Nassua, N.Y.), Taylor Dunn (Williamstown, Mass.), and Zachary Dvornicky-Raymond (Hector, N.Y.), that placed first with a time of 3:39.87, good for third all-time in school history.

Dvornicky-Raymond also had a strong day for the Express, placing first in the Men's 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.93, setting the fourth all-time mark in school history. Dvornicky-Raymond also placed second in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke touching the wall in 1:09.94 and setting the second all-time mark at Wells.

Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) rounded out the highlights for the Express earning three second place finishes. Fischetti helped lead the 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Christopher Guard (Youngstown, N.Y.), Ian Ronan (West Falls, N.Y.), and Alexander Lamphear (Springfield, Ohio) to a second place finish with a time of 2:03.49. Fischetti also placed second in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:51.50) and the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:55.56).
