Wells ties Pitt-Bradford in home-opener

AURORA, NY - The Wells College women's soccer team (0-1-1) fought through double overtime to end their home opener knotted with Pitt-Bradford (0-0-1) 2-2 Saturday.

Shellana Welsh put the Panthers on the board first with 32:59 remaining in the opening tier
before a come-back goal by Express midfielder Aliyah Brandt tied the score with 32:09 to play in the first.

Despite three clustered saves for Wells goalie Claire Peterson, Pitt-Bradford's Kelley Moyer left the Panthers ahead at the break 2-1 with her goal with 22 seconds left in first-half regulation.  A goal by Express midfielder Katie Jordan mid-way through the second tier put Wells at a halt with Pitt-Bradford at 2-2 and following two ten-minute overtime periods, the two teams parted in a tie.

Peterson recorded eight saves in the win for the Express, while goalie Ali Formicola also added two stops for Wells.

The Express returns to action Wednesday as it hosts Cazenovia at 4:00 p.m.(ET).
