Women’s Soccer Team Concludes Home Season Play by Honoring Persons

The Wells College women's soccer team honored senior Erin Persons prior to its contest with visiting Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Persons has been a two-sport athlete during her time at Wells but has had the biggest impact on the soccer field where she garnered 17 points as a team captain and midfielder.

Wells goalkeeper Jennifer McCumber registered 17 saves and allowed three second-half goals against Penn State-Harrisburg. The Nittany Lions were relentless in their attack with nine tallies in the first.

Abby Smith led the offense for the Express with three shots, while Mackenzie Powers, Alexis Huff and Mackenzie Kunkle all had shots during the contest for Wells.

The Wells College women's soccer team wraps up the regular season next weekend with a pair of road matches. The first is on Friday, Nov. 1 at Penn College with a 6:30 p.m. start and then the Express faces Penn State-Berks on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
