'On This Day' Fischetti Takes Three Top-Two Finishes for Men’s Swimming Team at Delhi

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Nov. 22, six years ago in 2014.

DELHI, N.Y. – Senior Tyler Fischetti racked up a first-place finish alongside a pair of runner-up finishes as the Wells College men's swimming team placed fourth at the SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014.

While Wells collected 151 total points, Fischetti accounted for more than a third of those points by scoring 42 individually in the three races he competed solo in and another 18 as part of the 200-yard medley relay team with Alex Lamphear, Owen May and Chris Flood.

Fischetti's first event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle, saw a second place finish (2:07.03) to trail the race leader by just under two seconds. In the 100-yard butterfly, Fischetti turned in a time of 1:04.27 to collect 13 points for the men's team, finishing only 4.50 seconds behind the race leader. In the 500-yard freestyle, however, Fischetti netted his team's first top finish with a time of 5:55.11 to collect 16 points in the event.

Lamphear also had a strong day for Wells, capturing fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.32, narrowly missing third place by .32 seconds. He trailed only Fischetti in the 500-yard freestyle later in the competition, posting a time of 5:57.52.

May placed fifth in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 25.05 and later turned in a fourth-place time of 56.74 in the 100-yard freestyle.
