Vargas Named NEAC Offensive Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Wells College's men's soccer forward Junger Vargas has been named North Eastern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The senior forward exploded for eight points last week that helped the Express to a two-game winning streak – the team's first consecutive wins of the season. The Wells College men's soccer offense enjoyed the most success it has thus far this season by scoring more goals last week than it had in its prior six contests with Vargas leading the way by factoring-in on five of the team's eight goals scored during the pair of wins last week.

The Islip, NY native began the week with a five-point outing against Clarks Summit in a 4-0 Express win on Sept. 18 with a pair of goals and an assist. Vargas followed that performance with a three-point effort against Cazenovia in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory on Sept. 21, by netting one goal and one assist in the team's first conference win.

Vargas registered seven shots over the weekend with three on net and all three finding the back of the net. For the season, that raised his shot total to a team-leading 20 to go with his team-leading eight points. The senior forward shares both the team's goal and assist leads with Justin Butler and Christian Garavito, respectively.
