Women's Swimming Swept At William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming program posted back-to-back losses Saturday afternoon on the campus of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges, falling to the host Herons by a 143-42 score while posting a 124-68 loss to North Eastern Athletic Conference-rival Cazenovia 124-68. Wells falls to 5-8 on the year in head-to-head meets following the sweep.

Following a slow start in the meet after a disqualification in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the Express saw a fourth place finish from senior Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) in the 200 Yard Freestyle relay (2:15.03). Touron later placed second in the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:00.67 to place second amongst five qualifying swimmers.

Freshman Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) had a close finish for Wells in the 100 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 1:07.99 to place second out of four non-exhibition swimmers. Schwend led off for Wells in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as the last member of the Express foursome touched the wall in 4:17.69 to place second out of five entries.

Wells will conclude their regular season Friday, Jan. 30 as they welcome Penn St.-Altoona to the Wells College Aquatic Center. Originally scheduled as a head-to-head meet between the men's teams from each school, the Express will see several women's swimmers compete in the meet as exhibition entries.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship meet will begin Friday, Feb. 13. More information regarding the league's championship meet will be released at a later date.
