Munroe Selected As NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. –
Freshman Patrick Munroe (Williamsville, N.Y.) was tabbed as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance this past Friday against the Bengals of Buffalo State College, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon. In head-to-head meets, the Express now stand at 2-6 overall on the season.

Competing in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly, Munroe's time of 2:20.52 ranks him first all-time in men's swimming history. In the process, Munroe captured first place by edging Trevor Wilder by just over one second (2:21.70). Drew Teter set the previous program record of 2:21.20 on Nov. 6, 2010 against SUNY Brockport on the road. Munroe's time of 2:22.20, set on Nov. 10 of this year against Utica, also ranks him third all-time in the event.

Munroe was selected as the conference's Student-Athlete of the Week earlier this season for his performance against Gallaudet University and SUNY Cobleskill in a triangular swim meet on Jan. 3, 2012. Teammate Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) also received the award on Oct. 22, 2012 for the men's swimming program.

The men's swimming program returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 16 as they face-off against Alfred State College at 1:00 p.m in the Wells College Aquatic Center.
