Women’s Swimming Collects 124-23 Victory Over Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Wells College men's and women's swimming programs competed against the Pioneers of Alfred State College on the road Tuesday. The women's team posted a 124-23 record to improve to 7-5 overall on the season in head-to-head meets. The men's program dropped a 75-59 decision versus the Pioneers, falling to 1-8 on the year.

The foursome of sophomore Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.), freshman Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.), senior Hallie Hanson (Ashville, N.Y.) and junior Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) secured the evening's first 11 points by notching a time of 2:12.07 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. As the lone entrant in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle, junior Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) earned nine points for Wells with a time of 12:47.79.

Freshman Amelia Flint (Bath, N.Y.) continued her recent streak of success, netting a first place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:17.57). She also captured top honors in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:03.29) by edging Touron by only .11 seconds before posting nine points in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.50.

Feudale, returning from illness, posted two strong finishes, including a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, completing her race in 27.75 to earn nine points. She also secured first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:07.17). Senior captain Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) also collected two first place finishes, the first in the 50 Yard Freestyle (23.37) and the second in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:01.11).

Junior Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) dominated the 200 Yard Individual Medley, collecting first place with a 2:24.88 time in the event. He also swam the 100 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 1:19.28, securing nine points for Wells.

Wells returns to action Saturday, Jan. 25 as they face-off against Cazenovia College and William Smith College in a 1:00 p.m. meet at the Bristol Pool in Geneva, N.Y.
