Middlebrook Bests Personal Record As Women’s XC Places Seventh

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Middlebrook (Newark, N.Y.) set a personal record as the Wells College women's cross country team posted a seventh place finish at the 2012 Harry F. Anderson Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College Saturday morning. Roberts Wesleyan posted a first place finish as a team, averaging an 18:38 minute pace and earning only 29 points.

Middlebrook's 5K time of 19:08 eclipsed her season-high mark of 20:04.2, set at the SUNY Oswego Invitational held on Sept. 8. Her previous career-high mark of 19:28.95 came on Oct. 29, 2011 as she placed first overall at the North Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship with a 6:16.3 mile pace.

Sophomore Lindsey Guzewicz (Auburn, N.Y.) ranked second on the Express, turning in a time of 21:56. Six Express runners placed in the 60's, with Brienne Goodson (Deansboro, N.Y.) and Anastasia Benson (Rockford, Ill.) placing 61st and 63rd, respectively. Freshmen Liza Gerwig (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Jessica Bye (Jordan, N.Y.) each crossed the finish line in 22:20, while freshmen Davina Jones (Gouverneur, N.Y.) and Katie Lamanna (Constableville, N.Y.) finished at 22:28 and 22:31, respectively.

Sophomore Veronica Frisenda (Patterson, Calif.) turned in a time of 22:51 while senior Sarah Deschenes (Keene, N.H.) placed 83rd with a time of 26:20. Freshman Marie Valliere (Chicopee, Mass.) rounded out the field for the Express with a time of 28:09.
