Two Field Hockey Players Honored By NEAC

Wells freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa and freshman midfielder Kelly Mason earned recognition from the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Kokosa was NEAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week and Mason was NEAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 25.

Kokosa earned her first collegiate shutout with six saves as Wells opened NEAC play with a 1-0 win at Morrisville State. She made nine saves in a mid-week non-conference match against Elmira. It is the second time this season that she has earned the NEAC weekly award.

Mason scored the game-winning goal in the second half of the 1-0 win at Morrisville, and opened the scoring against Elmira. It is the first time in her career that she has been honored by the conference.

These are the fourth and fifth weekly honors from the NEAC this season for Wells players, as Logan Vincent and Kokosa were recognized on Sept. 6 and Lexi Cohen earned an award on Sept. 20.

The Express plays its next game Saturday, at home against Wilson College at 1 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2015 NEAC championship game.
