Women's Volleyball Drops Two Games at La Roche Tri Match

Wells College women's volleyball continued conference play on Saturday when they made their way to La Roche University for a tri-match with Westminster.

La Roche was up first and after the Express built a lead in the first set the Redhawks battled back to tie it at 18. For the remainder of the set, neither team was able to grab a lead larger than one point forcing the set past the 25-point mark. This set ended 30-28 in favor of La Roche. After falling behind 5-0 to start the second, the Express were never able to recover and fell behind two sets to zero (25-12). Wells did not go quietly however winning the third set against the Redhawks finishing on a kill from Ellie Te. The fourth set starts with neither team securing a lead larger than 2 points. With a 24-17 lead in the fourth for Wells, La Roche took a time out but the Express forced a fifth set after being down two sets to zero. In the deciding set, the Express fell behind at the start 8-1. After a time-out, Wells cut the lead a bit but the Redhawks fed off the home crowd's energy. Wells suffered their second conference loss of the season to La Roche, 3-2.

The Express took on Westminster next and won the first set in a tight battle, After dropping the second set Wells opened the third set by going down 11-0 which proved to be too much to overcome. To begin the fourth set the Express were down once again but after a timeout began to battle back. Three games in three days finally caught up with Wells as they showed signs of fatigue for most of the fourth set and ultimately fell to Westminster, 3-1.

Up next, women's volleyball returns home Tuesday to take on the number one team in the conference Penn State Behrend.
