'On This Day' Men’s Soccer Seniors Contribute to Win on Senior Day

Wells College honors past and present seniors this week by spotlighting current fall student-athletes and looking back on past Senior Days.

Aurora, NY – Delroy Roberts scored two goals and Alioune Sene added a goal and an assist as the Wells men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory over Penn St. Berks on Senior Day on Oct. 31, 2009 at Wells.

Roberts got the scoring started in the 41st minute as Sene delivered a beautiful pass in front of the net to Roberts who buried a rocket shot into the net for a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half was all Wells as Roberts, Sene, and Cody Glassman all tallied goals for the Express en route to the victory. Seniors Nick Accordino, Derek Wheeler, Mike Birklin, and Court Carnahan were all honored for the four years of dedications to the team. Accordino and Wheeler each tallied assists in the game while Birklin finished with six saves.  

Both the Express and Penn St. Berks have qualified for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament and will await for the tournament seedings to be announced on Sunday afternoon.
