Senior Spotlight: Michael Bove

As Wells College puts a close to its fall 2020 season, the athletics department spotlights its fall student-athletes during Senior Week. Today, the athletics department is proud to feature from the men's soccer team, Michael Bove.

Michael is a history major with a minor in adolescent education certification from Lexington, Mass., who has been part of the men's soccer team the past four seasons. He appeared in 47 games with 31 starts as a defender with four assists over the past three seasons.

Wells men's soccer head coach Jim McIntyre had the following to say about Michael, "He always gives everything he has. Not everyone can say he puts the good for the team first, but Bove is one of those guys. He is willing to play any position on the field with no hesitation. He started to enjoy being a wingback which encouraged him to get involved in the attack. I hope we get a game or two in the spring so we can see him running up the sideline and serve a great cross in. He will be missed and a difficult OB to replace. Best of luck. Why did you choose Wells?

I had such a great time on both my recruiting visits and I really liked the guys on the team, so I thought that Wells was the place for me.

What is your favorite memory at Wells College as a student-athlete?

There isn't a single moment, but rather it's just being out on the field with the guys everyday. We're all pretty close, even outside of soccer, whether it's just hanging out or practicing.

What are your plans after Wells College?

Get my master's degree in education and then teach high school back in Massachusetts.

What advice would you give to the next person wearing your number?

Come out and work hard. Don't get lost in things and have fun.

If you had a favorite class during your time at Wells College, what was it and why was it your favorite?

That's a tough question because all the history professors at Wells do such a great job. Every time I go to history classes, I have a great time.

What will you miss the most about being a student-athlete at Wells College?

I will miss the sport and my teammates most.
