Men’s Swimming Falls To Pitt-Bradford, 62-32

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Wells College men's swimming team posted a 62-32 loss to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 3-5 overall in head-to-head swim meets this year.

Wells barely missed capturing first place in the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the squadron of Thomas Laier (East Nassau, N.Y.), Thomas Dougherty (Greenwich, Conn.), Patrick Munroe (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) trailed the first place team from Pitt-Bradford by three seconds (1:00.17).

In the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle, both Laier and Jacob Cohn (Upland, Calif.) finished first and second, respectively, with Laier turning in a time of 25.43 seconds and Cohn finishing just behind his team's captain with a time of 27.22 seconds.

Munroe kept up his recent streak of dominance with a time of 1:03.08 in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly while Sleezer posted a first place time of 1:07.32 in the Men's 100 Yard Backstroke. Munroe's time stands as the seventh-best time in program history while Sleezer's time ranks sixth all-time.

The Express conclude their regular season on Saturday, Jan. 26 as they host both William Smith College and Cazenovia College in a 1:00 p.m. meet.
