Munroe Draws Second-Straight NEAC Weekly Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Freshman Patrick Munroe (Williamsville, N.Y.) of the Wells College men's swimming team earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the second-straight week, the conference office announced late Monday afternoon. The men's swimming team posted a 1-1 record across two head-to-head meets this past weekend and sport a 3-5 record overall on the year.

Against Alfred State College on Wednesday, Munroe and the Express posted a 56-31 victory at home. Munroe posted a first place time of 5:00.43 in the Men's 400 Yard Individual Medley, ranking him second all-time in program history while trailing only Chris Guard's time of 4:55.68 set on Feb. 18, 2011. His time of 5:38.60 in the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle later in the day was a personal best and also places him third in program history in that event.

Versus the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday, the Express posted a 62-32 loss despite Munroe's dominance on the afternoon. Wells barely missed capturing first place in the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the squadron of Thomas Laier (East Nassau, N.Y.), Thomas Dougherty (Greenwich, Conn.), Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) and Munroe trailed the first place team from Pitt-Bradford by three seconds (1:00.17). Munroe's time of 1:03.08 in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly later in the day placed him seventh all-time in the event.

Munroe captured NEAC honors for the third time this season while also marking the fifth time on the year a men's swimmer has been recognized by the conference. For a complete list of award winners from the conference, click here.
