SENIOR DAY HIGHLIGHT VIDEO

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's swimming program was saddled with a 50-29 loss to Pitt.-Bradford Saturday afternoon at the Wells College Aquatic Center. With the loss, Wells falls to 1-7 in head-to-head meets on the year. Seniors Tyler Fischetti (Weedsport, N.Y.) and Alex Lamphear (Springfield, N.H.) were honored in a pre-meet ceremony for their contributions to the program.

The senior class did not disappoint the large gathering of fans on Senior Day as Fischetti posted two first place finishes while Lamphear was a part of two second place and one third place finish. Fischetti helped the Express to a second place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as his foursome notched a time of 2:07.02. His first place finishes came in the 50 Yard Freestyle (25.72) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (57.86).

Fischetti earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2011-12 and was selected as the team Most Valuable Swimmer as a junior. A NEAC Scholar-Athlete in 2013-14, Fischetti earned First Team All-NEAC in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay that same year while also earning or helping his team to earn nine other Second or Third Team All-Conference honors during his career. He boasts the fastest 200 Yard Butterfly time in team history, setting the record (2:20.49) at the 2014 NEAC Championship, hosted by Cazenovia College.

Lamphear was a part of the 200 Yard Medley Relay alongside Fischetti and later posted a third place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:07.43. Not only did he set a personal best in the event but he moves to ninth place in program history with the strong finish. With a second place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:04.99), he shaved nearly a full second off of his personal best time to re-set the sixth-fastest time in team history.

He will graduate this spring as a four-year member of the Wells men's swimming team. Leading off in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay at the NEAC Championships last season, the Express captured first place in the event (1:41.70). As an individual, Lamphear earned Third Team All-NEAC honors with a strong performance in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:22.67) that also proved to be the third-fastest performance in team history.

Freshman Shawn Snell (Hilton, N.Y.) recorded a first place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:48.63 and later added a second place time of 1:20.66 in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Classmate Tyler Lewis (Chittenango, N.Y.) came just under a second short of placing first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:24.10), but settled for second place in a crowded field of competitors.

The Express return to action Saturday, Jan. 24 as they travel to the Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. for a neutral-site meet against Cazenovia at 1 p.m.
