EXPRESS SPLIT DOUBLE-DUAL IN FINAL HOME MEET OF THE YEAR

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming team split their double-dual meet Saturday afternoon defeating the University of Pittsburg-Bradford 100-11 before falling to NCAA Division II Mansfield University 77-39. Mansfield also defeated Pitt-Bradford 86-9.

 

The 200 Yard Medley Relay Team of Gabby Spencer (Trumansburg, N.Y.), Erika Bareiss (Clinton, N.Y.), Idolyn Villiotti (Amherst, N.H.), and Olivia Touron (Cato, N.Y.) opened the meet with a second place showing, finishing with a time of 2:09.84. Spencer also placed second in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:11.06) and the 200 Yard IM (2:35.07).

 

Bareiss earned a second place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke touching the wall with a time of 1:22.50, and also finished second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 3:01.74.

 

Touron also earned two second place finishes for the Express including the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:05.28 and the lengthy 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:27.28.

 

The women's 200 Yard Freestyle Team of Hallie Hanson (Ashville, N.Y.), Britta Kilbourn (Scotia, N.Y.), Gwenn Lillie (Potsdam, N.Y.), and Sarah Sherboneau (Auburn, N.Y.) closed out the meet with a second place effort, finishing the event with a pace of 2:09.12.

 

Note: Graduating seniors Caitlin Farris, Sarah Sherboneau, Idolyn Villiotti, and Chelsea McGowen were each presented with a gift and recognized for their hard work and dedication to the swimming program prior to the start of their final home meet of the season.
