WOMEN'S SWIMMING TIED FOR FIRST AT NEAC CHAMPIONSHIP

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming found themselves tied with Cazeonovia College with 150 points after day one of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Championship Friday evening on the campus of Cazenovia College.

 

The women's swim team earned three first place finishes to find themselves atop the leader board after day one. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Team of Idolyn Villiotti, Erkia Bareiss, Olivia Touron, and Gabby Spencer placed first and set the conference record with a time of 1:49.82. The time also moved the relay team to second all-time at Wells after leaping past the relay team that finished with a time of 1:49.91 back in 1988.

 

Olivia Touron (Cato, N.Y.) earned the only individual first place finish for the Express in the 500 Yard Freestyle touching the wall with a time of 5:49.01, improving to 8th all-time in the event at Wells.

 

Gabby Spencer (Trumansburg, N.Y.) set the school's all-time mark in the 200 Yard I.M. finishing second in the event with a time of 2:25.46.

 

The 400 Yard Medley Relay Team of Villiotti, Bareiss, Spencer, and Touron rounded out the highlights for the Express placing first with a NEAC record time of 4:39.57 which also placed the relay team fifth all-time in the event at Wells.

 

SUNY Cobleskill currently sits in third place with 131 points, Gallaudet is in fourth place with 128 points, and The College of St. Elizabeth is in fifth place with 66 points.
