Seneca, NY The cross country team competed in the Cross Country Only Conference Championships at Seneca Lake State Park this weekend.

Though the ladies were incomplete for the first time this season, the fabulous four took advantage of the fast course and calm weather conditions.  Kayleen Wilkinson led the express by placing 27th out of 84 runners.  Kayleen completed the 5k course in a season best 21:53.01.  Sarah Brenner placed 62nd and ran a time of 24:26.86.  Brittany Dennee (72nd) gutted out a 28:06.14 performance while Beth Raymond (80th) recorded a season best time of 38:07.08.

The men's pack was back and performed well in the field of 114 runners representing 14 complete teams.  Freshman Brayden Shumski placed 13th and crossed the line with a personal best time of 27:32.31 over the flat 8k course.  Sam Share placed 35th and raced in under 30 minutes with a time of 29:43.16.  Evando Nascimento (51st) continues to "believe in the magic" and crossed the line with a season best time of 30:33.61.  Brandon Johnston (52nd) was just eight second behind in 30:41.37.  Van Bucsko completed our top five with his 76th place finish and time of 32:25.20.  Brian Corcoran (87th/34:25.14) and Tim Lambert (108th/39:35.98) raced well and helped the men step up to the line as a pack of seven.  The Express placed an impressive 7th out of 14 complete teams.  Kayleen and Brayden also earned awards for their top 30 performances.

The cross country team will compete in the NEAC Championships at SUNY IT on October 31st.   Please with them luck!  Several Wells harriers could return with the program's first All-Conference honors.
