SHUMSKI, SHARE, AND WILKINSON ALL FINISH IN TOP 15 AT HOBART INVITATIONAL

Geneva, NY – The Wells cross country team traveled to Geneva, NY to compete in the Hobart Invitational this weekend.  In the field of 46 runners, Kayleen Wilkinson raced beautifully and earned a spot in the top 15 with her 13th place finish.  The senior from Auburn, NY raced over the 6k course in 27:54.  Sarah Brenner finished 29th and raced in with a time of 30:39.  Sarah Deschenes placed 36th and completed her first collegiate 6k race in 34:17.  Beth Cereo (38:36) and Beth Raymond (49:22) completed our top five and helped the women place in the team scoring for the third straight week.   

The men were challenged with their first 8k of the season and recorded some impressive performances.  Freshman Brayden Shumski completed his first collegiate 8k by capturing second place and crossed the line with a time of 28:33.  Sam Share bettered his '08 performance by almost one minute and placed 15th in the field of 53 runners.  Sam completed the course in 31:37.  Evando Nasciemento finished 28th in 33:59 and Van Bucsko was 40th running a time of 35:25.  Freshman Brian Corcoran completed our top five for the day with his 41st place finish (35:44).  Freshman Tim Lambert was not only competing in his first collegiate cross country race, it was also his very first racing experience.  He crossed the line with a time of 38:31 and placed 47th.   Though the Express were am man down this week, they placed 5th out of seven teams.  

The cross country team will travel to Roberts Wesleyan for the Harry F. Anderson Invitational this Saturday.
