EXPRESS MAKING STRIDES; RUN STRONG AT HARRY F. ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

Rochester, NY – The cross country team traveled to the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan College this weekend.  The women raced against 10 competitive cross country teams over the 3.1 mile course.  Kayleen Wilkinson led the ladies with her 67th place finish and recorded  a season best time of 23:46.96.  Sarah Brenner raced in with her best 5k time of 2009 as well.  Sarah placed 80th and ran a time of 25:50.44.  Freshmen Sarah Deschenes (28:20.19) and Brittany Dennee (29:28.29) finished 83rd and 85th.  Beth Raymond completed our top five by placing 90th and helped the women place in the team scoring once again.  The ladies placed ahead of Hilbert College by 18 points.  The ladies all showed dramatic improvements from their first 5k of 2009 at SUNY IT.  Beth Raymond showed the greatest improvement by taking 3 minutes and 18 second off of her SUNY IT performance. 

The men raced in a tough field as well on Saturday.  Brayden Shumski led the Express with his 34th place finish out of 93 competitors.  Brayden recorded a personal best performance of 28:22.49 over the 8k course.  Sam Share was our #2 finisher coming in 57th place with a time of 30:55.29.  Brandon Johnston (31:48.35), Evando Nascimento (33:21.85) and Van Bucsko (33:40.36) raced in at spots 66, 69 and 71.  Tim Lambert bettered his rookie performance from last week by running a time of 39:02.63.  The Express placed 6th out of 9 teams edging out SUNY ESF by just one point!  The men recorded some great improvements as well.  Van Bucsko was the team's most improved runner for the day by taking one minute and 45 seconds off of last weeks performance. 

The cross country team will travel to SUNY Geneseo next weekend.
