Men's Soccer Blanks SUNY Cobleskill, 4-0

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College men's soccer team did not allow a shot against en route to a 4-0 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday at the South Athletic Field. Wells improves to 9-6 overall on the year and to 6-3 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference while SUNY Cobleskill remains in search of their first win of the year through 14 matches.

On the afternoon, the Express limited the Fighting Tigers to zero shot attempts. The last time a Wells men's soccer team kept their opponent without an offensive opportunity came on Aug. 30, 2013, a 2-0 victory over D'Youville.

Off an assist from freshman Jack Pilgrim (North Kingstown, R.I.), senior Max Cherry (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored the first goal of the game for Wells, tying him with Delroy Roberts for first place all-time in team history with seven career game-winning goals. Sophomore Benjamen Schanbacher (Spencer, N.Y.) headed home his team's second goal of the game at 35:59, burying a pass from freshman Justin Bingham (New Lebanon, N.Y.).

Pilgrim opened the second half scoring with a goal of his own before sophomore Jim Duchesneau (South Glastonbury, Conn.) roofed a pass from freshman Christian Garavito (Miami, Fla.) at 80:49 to round out the scoring for the Express. Wells went on to fire 27 shots in the game and had all six of the game's corner kick opportunities.

The goalkeeping tandem of sophomore Owen May (Warsaw, N.Y.) and freshman Trysten McLaughlin (Douglassville, Pa.) did not face a shot in the contest. SUNY Cobleskill's Tanner Puff allowed four goals on 11 shots.

The Express return to action Saturday, Oct. 24 as they face-off against Bryn Athyn on the road at 2 p.m.
