SECOND HALF GOALS SINK EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─ The Cazenovia College Wildcats scored three straight second half goals, breaking up a scoreless tie, en route to a 3-0 victory over the Wells College Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon in Cazenovia. Megan McDermott (Greene, N.Y./Greene) led the Wildcats with one goal and one assist, while goal keeper Megan Lawrence (Scipio Center, N.Y./Cayuga C.C.) led the Express with six saves in goal. The loss drops the Express to 4-12-1 (4-6 NEAC), while the Wildcats improve to 7-8 (7-4 NEAC).

It was a tail of two half's for the Express as each team held the other scoreless through the first 45 minutes. The Wildcats held a slight advantage in shots on goal 4-2 and corner kicks 3-2.

The second half would be a completely different story. The Wildcats jumped on the board at 60:27, scoring on a cross from 17 yards out to take the 1-0 lead. 30 seconds later the Wildcats struck again to take a commanding 2-0 lead. Kerry MacHugh (Tivoli, N.Y./Redhook) put the finishing touches on a dominating half for the Wildcats, scoring with less than four minutes to play as Cazenovia rolled to the 3-0 victory.

Despite the offensive outburst from the Wildcats, the Express held the advantage in shots on goal 4-3 in the second half.

The Express will look to close out their regular season schedule on high note Saturday, Oct. 30 as they take on NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m. in Aurora.
