SUNY COBLESKILL DOWNS EXPRESS

The Wells College women's soccer team could not stop the 25-shot attack of the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers as the Express lost 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Wells. Express goalie Claire Petersen (Derby, NY) finished with nine saves on the day.

Kristen Raina got the scoring started for Cobleskill as she took the ball and split the Express defense putting it past the outstretched hand of Petersen to give the Fighting Tigers a 1-0 lead. Each team entered the half with three shots on goal.

Cobleskill came out strong in the second half as Dana Hamm sailed a shot just over the head of Petersen to extend the lead to 2-0.  Jessica Stolz tacked on the third and final goal of the day when she got her own rebound and tucked the ball past Petersen to give the Fighting Tigers a 3-0 lead.

With the loss the Express fall to 5-5-1 (2-3-0 NEAC) while the Fighting Tigers improve to 6-4-1 (4-2-0 NEAC).

Wells will next play at home against Medaille College on Tuesday, October 14, at 2:00 pm.
