Baseball Swept at Penn State Abington

Wells College baseball team

Wells College baseball was back in action Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader against conference foe, Penn State Abington.

On Friday, the Express fell 13-10 to the Nittany Lions and were looking for their second conference win of the season this Sunday.

In game one, the Nittany Lions grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They continued to build their lead all the way up to 13-0 until in the top of the 5th inning back-to-back hits from Alan Compres and Max Odum helped the Express score their first two runs off SAC hits from Zack Odum and Aaron Izquierdo. Those were the only two runs of the game for Wells College as they suffered a 18-2 defeat.

In game two, the Nittany Lions jumped all over the starter for the Express scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the first on 7 hits and 3 walks. Wells College got on the board in the fourth inning when the first baseman for the Lions committed and error that scored Zach Young. In the 5th, Max Odum would hit his first home run of the season to add another run for the Express. One more run was pushed across in the top of the 9th but the Lions lead was too large at this point (17-3) and they swept the Express, three games to zero.

Baseball will be back home Wednesday when they host Medaille at 4 PM.
